Elizabeth,

These designations come from the IPC-CC-110, Guidelines for Selecting Core
Constructions fro Multilayer Printed iring Board Applications. This document
was created as a result of meetings held with various material laminators
around the world. The problem it addresses is the inconsistency of laminate
constructions used to produce certain laminate thicknesses.

In short the laminators have agreed to use the same construction for the
laminate numbers in the guidline. Their custom roducts would not be included
in these standard constructions.

The tables have been available to design workshop attendees for a couple of
years, and will be included inthe soon to be released IPC-2222, Sectional
Design Standard for Rigid Organic Printed Boards.
