We used to use a depth gauge on each side of the panel and subtracted
out the nominal thickness. Problem was that the depth gauge was not
getting down in the "V" and the panel thickness always varied. When
we got an accu-score hand held gauge, we found out that we were
scoring deeper than expected but still in tolerance. Accu-Service
also has an overhead arm gauge that can be linked to a processor.
The phone number there is 215-830-9826.

I hope this helps too.........
