Frank, While temp cycling might be interesting, it would not provide assurance that your potential Qualified Supplier has their processes controlled. Unless you have reviewed their process controls you have no way of knowing if the samples had a baby sitter throughout the process, they just got lucky or they actually can produce a consistent level of acceptable quality. Your samples could have been built by their best operator in their prototype lab. You need to know what they can produce EVERY day. For example two primary concerns would be, do they have written procedures that are controlled and actually used for all the steps used in building your assembly? Do they have up to date maintenance and training records? Another area of interest should be their corrective action system. Unless you know they have sufficient controls in place to produce uniform quality, every order is comparable to a lottery ticket.
