For those of you in the manufacturing of PCB's you are familiar with a system designed to identify rejects using codes. This makes quality reporting and analizing data more efficient. I am in the process of re-developing a re-developed reject identification system in manufacturing. This has been an on-going problem as simple as it may sound. If one tries to be to specific, you end up with 500 reject codes. On the other hand if you try and generalize there is trouble when it comes to root cause analysis, FMEA and problem solving, there is not enough specific data. I am looking into sub-classifying codes by process. This has not been the most successful project. Now I am seeking some help on this issue. Is there an industry document or any suggestions from the IPC that may speed-up this process? Does anyone have a system that they are using successfully that they would be willing to share? Any information on this subject would be helpful. Thank You!!!
