Using "dash" lines to indicate that a component is "loaded" from the opposite side of the silk-screen is acceptable within most manufacturing design guidelines, when only one side of the pwb is screened. If both sides are screened, a question of why a "dashed" line on the "other side" of the load comes to mind. good luck, thom ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Silkscreen practices Author: [log in to unmask] at Internet Date: 4/22/97 9:16 PM Received: by ccmail Received: from uunet by xl.com (UUPC/extended 1.11) with UUCP; Tue, 22 Apr 1997 21:15:59 EDT Received: from simon.ipc.org by relay6.UU.NET with SMTP (peer crosschecked as: www.ipc.org [209.42.29.3]) id QQcmlg22203; Tue, 22 Apr 1997 21:03:42 -0400 (EDT) Received: from ipc.org by simon.ipc.org via SMTP (940816.SGI.8.6.9/940406.SGI) id TAA09504; Tue, 22 Apr 1997 19:50:31 -0700 Resent-Date: Tue, 22 Apr 1997 19:50:31 -0700 Received: by ipc.org (Smail3.1.28.1 #2) id m0wJqGp-000BjpC; Tue, 22 Apr 97 19:50 CDT Resent-Sender: [log in to unmask] Old-Return-Path: <[log in to unmask]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Date: Mon, 21 Apr 1997 14:42:05 -0500 Message-Id: <[log in to unmask]> From: [log in to unmask] (SDalton) X-ccAdmin: NOBODY@uunet Subject: Silkscreen practices To: [log in to unmask] Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Description: cc:Mail note part Resent-Message-ID: <"F_6K32.0.PLJ.SpLNp"@ipc> Resent-From: [log in to unmask] X-ccAdmin: NOBODY@uunet X-Mailing-List: <[log in to unmask]> archive/latest/12151 X-Loop: [log in to unmask] Precedence: list Resent-Sender: [log in to unmask] Has anyone heard of using a dashing connector silkscreen outline to designate that a connector be placed on the solder side of the board vs. the component side? I realize that dashed lines on drawing designate this, but I have never seen it on the actual PCB.
