In a previous organisation we used ORCAD for board layout. We calculated that it was as cheap as using wire wrap. We were in the special to type test equipment design business and most deliverables were one-off. For all mechanical work including optics design we used AUTOCAD and the engineers could move between the tools reasonably easily. ------------------------------------------------------------------- We are not a board fab or assy house. I am looking for board layout software. We currently use AutoCad for board layout. I want to move away from this since it's not software made for layout work. I've been looking at P-Cad, GerbTool and ProTel. 1. Is it safe to assume everyone basically talks in gerber file language? 2. Anyone care to comment on software for layout? I am looking specifically for people with experience on the software they talk about. NOT spams.
