Bob Common sense ---- Fit, Function, and Reliability should be your guidance. Insure that the wire will not snag or break from stress and material fatigue during normal handling and use in the product. Support within 1 inch of the connection, to strain relief the solder joint, is a good minimum to start with. ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: assembly-jumper wires Author: [log in to unmask] at CCGATE Date: 4/28/97 11:21 AM To whom... 28 Apr 97 If I have wire jumpers on a mulitlayer pwb, is there a standard that defines the distance between bond points on the wire length. I know that Mil-Std-275 and IPC-2221 both call out bonding at 1" intervals, but I am looking at test set equipement, not hi-rel avionics hardware and IMO the 1" interval is an overkill. Is there any guidence, good commercial standard, out there or if not, what is being done? Thanks in advance.
