If the boards are solder coated, try running them through a surface mount reflow oven before assembly. Don't flux, just let them blow where they will. If the solder coating is thin, solderability may be affected, but this might take care of the assembly-level blow hole problem. ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Assy: Blowhole Author: [log in to unmask] at smtplink Date: 3/5/97 6:41 AM I have a serious problem on some of the board that stucked in the store. All of them is at least 2 years. When I wave-soldered the bare board, it has a lot of blow-holes, solder balls, pin-holes. Anyway, I try to purge all of them, but there are 6000 pieces in the Store. I try to bake at at 100 deg. C for 4 hours. Too bad, it doesn't work. I try to bake for any 4 hours just before wave-soldering. The result is terrible. Not even a slight Help !!! Can anybody give me some advises what should I do ??? Thanks in Advance Poh .. *************************************************************************** * TechNet mail list is provided as a service by IPC using SmartList v3.05 * *************************************************************************** * To subscribe/unsubscribe send a message <to: [log in to unmask]> * * with <subject: subscribe/unsubscribe> and no text in the body. * *************************************************************************** * If you are having a problem with the IPC TechNet forum please contact * * Dmitriy Sklyar at 847-509-9700 ext. 311 or email at [log in to unmask] * *************************************************************************** *************************************************************************** * TechNet mail list is provided as a service by IPC using SmartList v3.05 * *************************************************************************** * To subscribe/unsubscribe send a message <to: [log in to unmask]> * * with <subject: subscribe/unsubscribe> and no text in the body. * *************************************************************************** * If you are having a problem with the IPC TechNet forum please contact * * Dmitriy Sklyar at 847-509-9700 ext. 311 or email at [log in to unmask] * ***************************************************************************
