Luis, Maybe I'm just jumping on the bandwagon, but the others that have said the vertical Vs. horizontal debate is a matter of data are right. I've bought a lot of equipment and have found that things like tech service, spare parts(and cost), and standardization are gong to have a greater affect over time. Very fine lines (sub 2 mil) are manufactured every day vertically, horizontally, and just to make things really controversial w/ and w/o oscillation. Depending on your future volume, keep in mind that your going to have many horizontal processes in your plant and your going to want to connect those lines as you become more automated, so having a mix will be self limiting. My personal experience has been that I've never seen a shop do anything special with a vertical machine, but I have seen plenty of jammed sheets from broken strings. Additionally, conveying 2-core innerlayers could be hairy.
