From my past experience, I have found that when using gold as an etch resist, the best way to avoid slivers is to run jobs using 1/2 oz base foil. I was never able to characterize the increase in etch speed to successfully etch thicker foil. When I got jobs that had a build that utilized 1 and 2 oz copper foil, we usually ended up with slivers. ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Gold as Etch Resist Author: [log in to unmask] at corp Date: 1/29/97 3:41 PM Hello, Please post information, experiences, and anecdotes, on using electroplated gold as an etch resist. In particular how is the etch rate controlled. How can the undercut be reduced to eliminate the chance of slivers. (Gold/Nickel/Copper/FR4 :The copper gets etched) Thanks Rich *************************************************************************** * TechNet mail list is provided as a service by IPC using SmartList v3.05 * *************************************************************************** * To unsubscribe from this list at any time, send a message to: * * [log in to unmask] with <subject: unsubscribe> and no text. * *************************************************************************** * If you are having a problem with the IPC TechNet forum please contact * * Dmitriy Sklyar at 847-509-9700 ext. 311 or email at [log in to unmask] * *************************************************************************** *************************************************************************** * TechNet mail list is provided as a service by IPC using SmartList v3.05 * *************************************************************************** * To unsubscribe from this list at any time, send a message to: * * [log in to unmask] with <subject: unsubscribe> and no text. * *************************************************************************** * If you are having a problem with the IPC TechNet forum please contact * * Dmitriy Sklyar at 847-509-9700 ext. 311 or email at [log in to unmask] * ***************************************************************************
