How are you fluxing the tantalum capacitors. Foam no clean and fixed head spray fluxers have trouble properly fluxing small SMD pads. This usually shows up as skips and insufficients, since some of the pad does see flux, but the rest is shadowed from the fluxer, or blown clean by the flux air knife (turbulence occurs where the air stream is deflected by the close part). ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Assy: Solder Skip Author: [log in to unmask] at internet Date: 1/16/97 9:01 AM Hi Technetters, I am wandering anyone could suggest ways to get rid of solder skips. We have a lot of solder skip on the Tant capacitor, case size type A and B, but don't have any problem with the rest of the chip components and SOICs. The pad size for the Tant Cap id pretty small, only allow very little for space for the chip wave to be able to solder to the terminations. Any ideas how to fix it..We are running no-clean using a full-blow nitrogen tunnel wave-solder machine. *************************************************************************** * TechNet mail list is provided as a service by IPC using SmartList v3.05 * *************************************************************************** * To unsubscribe from this list at any time, send a message to: * * [log in to unmask] with <subject: unsubscribe> and no text. * *************************************************************************** * If you are having a problem with the IPC TechNet forum please contact * * Dmitriy Sklyar at 847-509-9700 ext. 311 or email at [log in to unmask] * *************************************************************************** *************************************************************************** * TechNet mail list is provided as a service by IPC using SmartList v3.05 * *************************************************************************** * To unsubscribe from this list at any time, send a message to: * * [log in to unmask] with <subject: unsubscribe> and no text. * *************************************************************************** * If you are having a problem with the IPC TechNet forum please contact * * Dmitriy Sklyar at 847-509-9700 ext. 311 or email at [log in to unmask] * ***************************************************************************
