Hi all. Gary Kessler here, prodigal son of Bernie Kessler. I agree with the observations about Java -- it is cool tool that is full of security vulnerabilities. I recommend that people keep their browsers Java-disabled unless they are at a known, safe site; it is just a reality of cyberspace. Unfortunately, I also observe that most people will not turn Java on and off reliably. Another alternative to a Java Chat mechanism is IRC, or Internet Relay Chat. You need a server, naturally, and the IRC port must be allowed at the router at each of the sites wishing to participate. IRC information can be found on the Web, of course; I believe that there's a bunch of info at Yahoo under the Internet software category. Good luck! /gary kessler *************************************************************************** * TechNet mail list is provided as a service by IPC using SmartList v3.05 * *************************************************************************** * To unsubscribe from this list at any time, send a message to: * * [log in to unmask] with <subject: unsubscribe> and no text. * *************************************************************************** * If you are having a problem with the IPC TechNet forum please contact * * Dmitriy Sklyar at 847-509-9700 ext. 311 or email at [log in to unmask] * ***************************************************************************
