Good Morning Jim - Sorry but there are only a couple of choices for you to follow - either work closely with your component vendor for solderability testing or remove some components from the reels for in-house solderability testing. The point that the -001 specification is trying to make is that for soldering processes to deliver high yields you need to take a proactive approach - work with the vendors that sell you the materials you input to your processes rather than finding out the problems after processing. I've been away for a while... now I'm back. I'd like to know how some of you guys/gals are meeting the solderability maintenance paragraph (5.4) of J-STD-001. The requirements states "The manufacturer must ensure that all components,... are solderable at the start of hand and/or machine soldering operations." This seems especially difficult when the majority of parts are packaged on tape and reel. Any help will be appreciated. Glad to be back, Jim Marsico (516) 595-5879 [log in to unmask] ******************************** * ______ _ _ _____ * * / ___ | | | | | _____ * * / /___| | | | | | _____ * * __/ ____ | | | | |______ * * |____/ |_| |_| |________| * * * * SYSTEMS, INC. * ******************************** *************************************************************************** * TechNet mail list is provided as a service by IPC using SmartList v3.05 * *************************************************************************** * To unsubscribe from this list at any time, send a message to: * * [log in to unmask] with <subject: unsubscribe> and no text. * *************************************************************************** *************************************************************************** * TechNet mail list is provided as a service by IPC using SmartList v3.05 * *************************************************************************** * To unsubscribe from this list at any time, send a message to: * * [log in to unmask] with <subject: unsubscribe> and no text. * ***************************************************************************
