Chris, This is the first that I've heard of this. I have many Qs as to how they do this technically. I will relay to some of our technical folk to see if they know or have heard of this. BIG PROBLEM - I checked my 2/24/97 messages, and this message from Marc was NOT there. I know that ComplianceNet is not used much at all, and the last time I used it there was an error message, which was explained as a user who had dropped off. But my main concern is that we have a great communications tool for EHS folk, but we're not using it!! I' going to cc this to compliancenet to see if it gets out to anyone, and whether those receiving it can recall this message Lee ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: "improved etching" (fwd) Author: Christopher Rhodes <[log in to unmask]> at SMTPLINK-HADCO Date: 3/18/97 3:50 PM I haven't heard about this, and saw no reply bounce back from compliancenet. Does anyone have any information for Dr. Siegel? ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Mon, 24 Feb 1997 13:19:03 -0800 From: Marc H. Siegel <[log in to unmask]> To: [log in to unmask] Subject: "improved etching" Laura Bloch at EPA Region IX forwarded me the following request. Does anyone have an information about this? "....During one of the discussions on printed circuit boards, it came up that Japan may be already implementing this new technology of "improved etching" in their PCB manufacture. Therefore, we wanted to ask you if anyone at the EPA is aware of 1)whether such technique (i.e. etching without needing etch-resist) is in use elsewhere, and if so, 2) if there has been studies on the implications of P2 potential and risk reduction resuling from implementing such technique. Obviously, both of these questions are of great interest to us, and if you woudln't mind asking a few who might know about these topics, we'd love to hear from you as soon as possible." Please send any information to: Laura Bloch at: [log in to unmask] Thanks, Marc =================================================================== Dr. Marc H.
