Agreed If the paste separates on dispensing then paste is not optimum. Whacking the paste on and off under pressure will separate it. In an Auger or Archimedes screw dispenser the paste should not be under high pressure. You just need a small positive to keep dispense screw area filled. The screw then winds the paste out. -- Regards Mike -----Original Message----- From: TechNet [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Robert Kondner Sent: Thursday, March 24, 2016 4:55 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [TN] Auger Driven Dispensers Ioan, Thanks, I did look at their site, they do have a footed valve with an encoder on the motor. Someday I would like to revisit the paste dispensing area and I might try one of those. I also saw a valve at APEX with a pressure sensor right at the tip and the turn monitor. I want one of those! Auger turning is an important control but you cannot ignore tip pressure. At high pressure the solder separates from the flux and you end up with a wad of metal in the tip. It is a difficult process to control. The "Experts" at some of the vendors do not always get it right. Have never used them for solder dispensing, but got very good service for epoxy dispensing and conformal coating. Regards, Ioan Tempea, P. Eng. Due to some pretty fine dots, the need for speed and for consistency and the need for some lines to be dispensed, we are looking at an auger-driven system (5-6 mil dots). Does anyone have favorite vendors of the dispensing pumps and controllers that can be added on to a pieces of automation equipment?
