Mike, looking at the drawing, it does call for gold over nickel, to some military specs with which I am not familiar. Haven't heard from any TechNetter with suggestions about a US supplier. We are in Pennsylvania. From what I have learned, I think it may not be out of the question to find someone doing it here or in a surrounding state. This is done using an alkaline immersion zinc process. Then you [immersion] plate that with nickel and then you can put your gold on. It's a standard process but from people who specialise in it. Done properly it can be quite robust (viz Voyager spacecraft) -- Regards Mike BSP -----Original Message----- From: TechNet [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of David Hillman Sent: Saturday, January 16, 2016 3:42 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [TN] plating gold to aluminum Hi TechNet - another potential issue to consider would be corrosion issues. Gold is one end of the galvanic table and aluminum is on the other end - not exactly a metallic pairing I would jump up and down about. The users should look at the product use environment and assess the potential corrosion issues.
