Hi I just returned from 2 weeks visit in US. I met the boys at at the Ben Gurion Airport yesterday (we were on the same flight), and put them to work on installing a new Event Detector system. I hope that they will finish the job until Friday. The following words/statements are associated with this element: frosted light bulbs, PET, a hair spray can, 1906 Nobel Prize for Chemistry, the Latin word for "flow". Which element is being described? The Answer: The element if Fluorine (F). Fluorine is mentioned in 1670 instructional texts for etching glass. fluorocarbons used to be used as the propellants in hair spray cans, Ferdinand Moissan was awarded the 1906 Nobel Prize for Chemistry due to his discovery of fluorine. Positron Emission Topography (PET) uses fluorine isotope F-18 which has a half life of 10 minutes for medical imaging.
