Hi Frank, It's been quite some time ago (1990), but we had a fire on the production floor at a company I worked for out in California. We had worked a Saturday, and when it was quitting time our wave operator at the time, who was also responsible for our cleaners, didn't shut everything off for our inline aqueous cleaner. Well it was a polypropylene cleaner and we believe something failed because it wound-up boiling all of the water out of the wash tank and eventually caught on fire very early (about 2:30am) Sunday morning: http://stevezeva.homestead.com/Comptronix_Fire.jpg I got called in at around 6:30am. At first I thought somebody at work was just playing a joke. but when I finally got there and saw all the fire trucks I knew it was for real. We all pitched in and started cleaning up. We still had our Detrex inline freon cleaner, so we ran all the boards that were still in WIP on the floor through that cleaner. Anything that we had an electrical test on was re-tested again. We notified our customers of what had happened and what we were doing with the product that was on the floor. After all was said and done the only board we lost were ones that were sitting in a tilt rack on a table close to the cleaner. We called a disaster clean-up company to come in Monday morning and believe it or not we were back in production on Wednesday. A lot of work to be sure!
