Thank you all on the advice and comment. I am testing it on PCBA. Do anyone/ your customers did a peel test base on ASTM-D-3359 after thermal shock cycles? I did and it "failed" (only meet 3B of the rating). I believe I will need to work harder if someone did and passed the test. Thanks. ________________________________ From: lduso - Diamond-MT.com [[log in to unmask]] Sent: Friday, 13 February, 2015 9:36:31 PM To: TechNet E-Mail Forum; Tan Geok Ang Subject: Re: [TN] Adhesion, Polymer Coating ( IPC-TM-650 2.4.16 ) Tan Mr Pauls follows the same method as we do. We apply Parylene as a service and if adhesion testing is requested by the customer, the D3359 is usually the spec called for unless they generate their own. We have purchased a specific test kit with the proper size blades just for this. The only caution is that the substrate you use as a test coupon must be the exact same substrate material of what you want the parylene to have max adhesion. In other words, if you are coating a CCA, don't use a glass slide as a coupon. All you are doing is testing parylene adhesion to glass, not solder joints or device leads. Parylene will adhere to each differently. At the same time, Section 4.0 (Apparatus or Material) of IPC-TM-650 2.4.16, does not indicated what tool is used to create the pattern under section 5.2 (though it refer to IPC-DD-135 which is an obsoleted standard) as the line width of the pattern is 0.1mm. Razor blade thickness is about 0.2mm. Hope to get advice you all. ______________________________________________________________________ This email has been scanned by the Symantec Email Security.cloud service.
