I didn't really expect to see the guys this morning because I wasn't very sure of my answer. I had nothing prepared, and I think Carl worked 'em pretty hard last week. I gave them a hundred bucks each and sent them to Nags Head. Their mission is to hit the Avalon Pier and catch some fresh fish for the table later this week. They're happily headed down Route 64 on their mowers, and we'll be enjoying some flounder and trout on Thursday evening if all goes well! It is a poor conductor of electricity. Significant quantities of this element are recovered from copper electrolytic refining anode "slime". The word "garlic". What element is being described? The Answer: The element is Tellurium (Te)! The name tellurium is derived from the Latin word "tellus" which mean "earth". Tellurium has no biological role but in low level doses causes humans to have bad body order and bad breath. In 1884, volunteers were given 0.5 micrograms of TeO2 orally and within an hour they had "garlic" breath that lasted for 30 hours. Doses of 15 mg caused garlic breath for 8 months! The winner of the weekly element quiz is Leland Woodall, CSTech Inc and he will get the services of Clumpy and Kloumpios for the week. They left yesterday so they should be showing up at your doorstep today. Week 56 Carl Van Wormer, Cipher Engineering LLC - The boys were waiting for me when I arrived at 5:45, this morning. They had picked the lock and the coffee was ready when I walked into the building! During the work-days, I'll have them sorting the boxes in the stock-room, and then have them perform a quick-count on the inventory. When they are done with that, they'll clean the solder-flux splash from the objective lenses of the microscope, and maybe get some of the dust cleaned from the internal lenses. Evenings, I can have them cook dinners, giving my wife a rest, and then (after they've finished cleaning up), they can go down to the basement workshop and build up the next group of ShortSniffer cables. They have more energy and much better work ethics than my kids ever did . . . Week 57 Leland Woodall, CSTech Inc - assisted with ???? Everyone have a safe week.
