If the metal stiffener is solderable, punch some metal slugs that will fill the holes and solder them in place. The solder will fill any gaps and should be quite flat. If the metal stiffener is not solderable, it may be cheaper to throw them away and replace with stiffeners with no holes. -----Original Message----- From: TechNet [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Wayne Thayer Sent: Wednesday, September 11, 2013 10:33 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [TN] Metal stiffeners Of course JB Weld is available everywhere and will work, but the color is ugly and it doesn't machine pleasantly (being full of iron particles, calcium, and other stuff). But, there are "Liquid Metal" repair kits for cleaning up molds, etc., and those look a lot prettier but are a lot pricier! I am looking for a way to fill up some holes in a metal stiffener such that a) the surface will be very flush b) I can still go through a press cycle to bond the stiffeners onto the flex. Thanks.
