Hi Bob - I was wondering about that myself so I asked Clumpy and Kloumpios awhile back if did they have had any: (a) passport and/or visa issues; (b) security clearance issues. They have been all over the globe assisting TechNetters with a huge range of tasks over the last 2 years. The boys reply to my question was ".... it would be better for you if you didn't know........" so I didn't pursue the matter any further! Apparently Clumpy and Kloumpios are very well connected on a global level. The daily intake of this element is around 6 grams which is 2X the amount required by body. This element has been labeled by some environmentalists as "the" polluting chemical due to its use in insecticides. What element is being described? The Answer: The element is Chlorine (Cl)! Early chemists new chlorine in the form of acidum salis or muriatic acid. Chlorine was not produced in gas form until 1774 by Carl Wilhelm Scheele at Uppsala Sweden. It wasn't until 1807 that Humphry Davy investigated muriatic acid and deduced it was an element. He announced is findings in 1810 but it took another 10 years for chlorine to be accepted as an element. Chlorine was first used to disinfect tap water in Maidstone England in 1897 stopping an outbreak of typhoid. The winner of the weekly element quiz is Amol Kane, AsteelFlash US East Corp, and will get the services of Clumpy and Kloumpios for the week.
