The MIL-PRF-81705 spec is still listed as an active spec as of Feb 2010
so it would appear that some folks should be able to manufacture the
material unless the DoD plans on superseding the spec.

Subject: [TN] MIL-PRF-81705D vs EIA-541

All,

We have historically used the subject specification for purchase of our
static shielding bags. However, I have been informed that they are no
longer specified against this spec but most major vendors. Indeed,
looking at some of the major suppliers (3M, Desco, Uline) the bags no
longer reference the 81705 and instead reference the EIA 541. Does
anyone have background info on why the change?
Thanks,

Kevin Glidden
