Sure there are, just contact your supplier, it would be amazing if your supplier does not have a halide free functional equivalent, or something close. The reason is simple enough and is nothing to do with the classic /historic halide versus halide-free debate. It's now more an environmental issue. Simplistically/succinctly: some halides are bad environmentally, therefore all halides are bad. This because telling the difference is hard, finding them is not. So whether the halides in your product are bad or not is no longer relevant, it's just too hard to explain to whoever that there are 'bad halides' and 'it doesn't matter halides' and they may not be listening anyway so..... a no halides policy solves the problem. Be aware it can be more difficult to make halide free fluxes as effective as halide containing, and certainly wetting on different surfaces can be different, so you might experience some change in performance or wash off. We are currently using a water soluble flux that contains halides. In doing some very quick research it looks like the WS fluxes have halides and the NC fluxes do not. Is there a halide free WS flux for lead-free wave soldering (foam application)? We need the WS fluxes because we currently use a DI water only batch wash system. Washing the boards is mandatory for our applications.
