Just because I am big on the "not wasting paper" scene... I would suggest that everybody install a PDF writer as one of their printers. This works well for the occasions where you need to print a document to scan it right back into an electronic file. This also works well to recode items you need to find later, for example training records. I would suggest "dopdf" or "cutepdf" they are both free and work well. -----Original Message----- From: TechNet [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Rivera, Raye Sent: Tuesday, August 09, 2011 12:06 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [TN] IPC Standards downloads The secured .pdf files are a bit cumbersome. Jack is right; there is no practical way to use the documents as a softcopy. The easiest way I've found to deal with the system is to immediately print a hard copy and hand it over to our document control. This seems a bit archaic and not very green. It is also really easy to mess up due to all the restrictions. For example if you send to the wrong printer and cancel the job, you are out of luck. You only get to print once. I did have problems with one of the documents that would not print correctly due to something about the way the last few pages of boiler plate were added to the end. Fortunately, if you call the people at IHS they are very responsive and will help you through any difficulties. Apart from installing the special viewer required I haven't needed any IT help.
