Richard, All ENIG chemical manufactures have "best practice" documentation for their ENIG processes. These have been developed over time to prevent the conditions you mention. When I have done investigation into ENIG failures, when it is traced back to the PWB fabricator, it always turns out to be deviation from best practice processing. I would advise the client to make himself familiar with the fabricators ENIG best practice process documents and insure the fabricator provide audit documentation insuring they are following best practice. It's not rocket science following proven reliable process parameters, but it is easy for any fabricator to "drift" over time away from best practice processing. Regular audits are a must to insure adherence to proper ENIG processing. They are fully aware of ENIG issues such as Black Pad, Brittle Nickel, etc., and want to know whatever steps can be taken to prevent ENIG PWBs from reaching production with these issues. Does anyone have any suggestions? ______________________________________________________________________ This email has been scanned by the MessageLabs Email Security System.
