Rocky, It's very unlikely that the camera is designed to go through a cleaning cycle. I assume the mylar film is in front of the lens? If so, it is there simply to keep dust off before final assembly. The camera manufacturer should be able to give you more detailed advice but I doubt it will be much different from what I've told you.
