Earl stayed on the DC forum until at least 2004, when I last chatted with him. I was trying to find him a few years ago and heard that he had gone "off the grid". I hope that in his last days he was at peace with himself and the world. I was working at ACI mostly on the EMFP program back then. I was troubled by the conflict, and very sorry to see him leave the TechNet. When it happened, I contacted Earl. He was already talking about Idaho and Montana. He has a special genius that caused him, and occasionally, those working with him pain. RIP MoonMan. -----Original Message----- From: TechNet [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Inge Sent: Saturday, May 08, 2010 5:19 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [TN] Earl Moon... These seems to be Earl's last postings to TN. Earl gave suddenly up, as it looks. Sad. /Inge ------------------------------------------------------------------ Subject: I'm gone again From: Earl Moon <[log in to unmask]> Reply-To: TechNet E-Mail Forum. Date: Tue, 10 Sep 2002 19:39:13 -0500 Folks, I just received this message from someone I consider a great person and keeper of the IPC faith: Earl, this type of postings to the forum are not appropriate. Your overall thread about identifying a better way to heat sink a component could and should have been summarized in a single posting that others could use to their benefit. Additionally, I request your restraint in use of off-color and profane words; we've received many comments from people that are offended. Thank you for your adherence to this request. Jack Crawford Director, Professional Development and Assembly Technology [log in to unmask] I have tried to be honest but not necessarily "clean" during my postings. I wish you all well as my language skills and moral values obviously do not measure up the the high IPC standards. Simply, I just don't have it for this forum anymore according to Jack. Enjoy, Earl Subject: Re: I'm gone again From: Earl Moon <[log in to unmask]> Reply-To: TechNet E-Mail Forum. Date: Wed, 11 Sep 2002 00:36:06 -0600 Content-Type: text/plain It has nothing to do with Jack, Werner. It has to do with me and my inability to say it more CORRECTLY. I praise Jack for what he has to do and the fine job he does every single day. I have a real problem with just a few folks not being able to take it as well as me when it comes to dishing this or that. I too say it like it is while occassionally using some off color language. That's just me and that's the way it is. That's not ever going to change. I'll miss providing the input but I won't miss not being able to say it my way, MoonMan Subject: THE BOOK YOU ALL ORDERED, OR NOT From: Earl Moon <[log in to unmask]> Reply-To: TechNet E-Mail Forum. Date: Wed, 11 Sep 2002 03:12:26 -0500 Again, I am to blame for my demise on this fine forum, or not. As a last comment I must say I'm to blame and Jack/IPC is exactly right in their actions as demands to cease and desist - a requirement I still find offensive as a simple old cowboy in a high tech environment never having heard this phrase before but on TV legal shows. I cannot control my verbiage or content nor will I ever. Hell, it just comes naturally. Even Steve Gregory tried supporting me much to the disdain of IPC because of his comments on my behalf. You know this to be true Steve as does IPC. I thank you for the effort. What I don't understand is how, out of 300 or more people promising to buy my book, only 200 actually did. What is this but profain. Who is it that promises something and does not deliver even for their benefit? It is obscene and I, not Jack, condemn this obscenity. You know who you are and I am sorry for you. This is mostly a pure forum up front as it is designed to be. There are people on it that are not pure. Count me as one and about a hundred others that are not either. This is why I go. MoonMan Subject: CLEANED UP MY ACT BUT FOR IPC From: Earl Moon <[log in to unmask]> Reply-To: TechNet E-Mail Forum. Date: Wed, 11 Sep 2002 15:11:35 -0500 Folks, Thank you for a nice and mostly enjoyable 5 years on this forum. My 48 hour sign off period almost is up so BYE. I cleaned up what needed it. Thanks for the over 100 "I'll miss you and don't go messages." I'll miss you too but not the stuff related to my being a rude, crude dude with poor language skills. More fishin' and cussin' in my future while running into fewer offended folks out there with no vices of their own, I hope to hell and back.
