Guys, I am appreciate Toyota's willingness to face the music and try hard to fix the problem. At least they admit the problem still investigate the cause, not rush to conclusion. Not like some place call it fix, but the insulating tile kept falling. Using statistic probability to assessing the risk instead go after the fundamentals. -------------------------- Sent using BlackBerry ----- Original Message ----- From: TechNet <[log in to unmask]> To: [log in to unmask] <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Fri Mar 05 11:55:15 2010 Subject: Re: [TN] More on Toyota Is Toyota's PR firm handing out guns lately? Everything they do in recent days they seem to be shooting themselves in the foot. They are running out of feet. Someone give them gun safety classes. It's painful to watch a company so respected for so long fall on their face so hard. I remember the days when I was introduced to lean mfg using the Toyota Production System. Shows what happens when you take your eye off the proverbial ball. I have a 1999 Toyota Sienna and two months out of warranty the power sliding door quit working. I took it to the shop and after telling me it was going to cost $1,200 to replace the "computer" (read circuit board) I called Toyota and asked them if they would honor the warranty since this was a common problem with other Toyota's. They asked me if I owned or ever owned any other Toyota's. I told them "no this is my first" to which they replied, "We'd fix it but since you are not a 'loyal' Toyota customer we won't". How's that for great customer service and image building? This is the last Toyota I'll ever own because I REALLY am not a "loyal customer" or at least I'm not now. Happy Friday ;-) KennyB -----Original Message----- From: Croslin, Robert [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Friday, March 05, 2010 8:09 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [TN] More on Toyota In early 2006, we lemon-lawed our 2005 ES330 Lexus for Unintended Acceleration. Toyota put us through hell. After going through the arbitration process in which they denied the claim, I began the actual LL process with the state of Florida. Within hours, Toyota was in touch with us and we settled on replacement with a 2007 ES350, so the actual LL process was never completed. At the handover, they then told me the car would be quarantined , sent to Jacksonville and disassembled to find the problem. "You guys just spent months denying a problem and now you're going to tear the car apart looking for it?" All my filings, including one with the NHSTA who never responded, were for Unintended Acceleration due to Sensor and ECM Malfunction" and documented with cause and effect schematics. To date, the replacement ES350 has been the best car we've ever owned and they were so aggressive in stopping the LL process with the state, that we actually came out way, way ahead financially on the transaction.
