Hi Ioan
Well, it depends(tm).

Some shrink tubing has an adhesive layer inside it, to make it waterproof. This is what is used, for example, on the wiring for a pump that gets dropped down a well. If the shrink tubing used for these has that layer you are probably OK.

Is there any visible p/n on the shrink tubing? And/or at the exposed edge of the tube is there any visible adhesive, usually there will be squeeze-out at the ends.

If it's the non-adhesive stuff, then the answer is no...

regards,
 - Graham

Subject: [TN] Cable wash

Dear Technos,

Could I say that shrink tubing is water proof?

Otherwise said, I have this coax cable (connector - cable - connector) which has shrink tubing over both cable-connector junctions and wonder if it could pass through our in-line washer. What mainly bugs me is one of the connectors has a square body and with all those edges and corners I wonder how tight the tube can shrink around it. What I dread is not only water could seep under the tubing, but this could be dirty, ionic active water.

Thanks,
