Sorry send to Richard and not to Brian ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: [log in to unmask] To: "TechNet E-Mail Forum" <[log in to unmask]>, "Richard D. Starting with a PCB thickness of .031", you would not have enough contact surface area for a reliable connection and strength against creep issues from insertion and extraction pressures. Since the vendor of the part specifies the design won't work that leaves you with either: -buying the thru-hole version and soldering it or - if the major reason for the compliant pin design is to assure the part stays flat and properly aligned then use it but solder the pins afterwards to achieve the reliability. - The only other choice may be to use an SMT socket for your part if total height isn't an issue. I hope this helps. John Goulet Sr Process/MFG Engineer ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard D. If so, what PCB finish? We have a product team who wants to use this combination. To my knowledge, there are no pin suppliers who will recommend their pins with this PCB thickness. --------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a service by IPC using LISTSERV 15.0 To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt or (re-start) delivery of Technet send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet NOMAIL or (MAIL) To receive ONE mailing per day of all the posts: send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet Digest Search the archives of previous posts at: http://listserv.ipc.org/archives Please visit IPC web site http://www.ipc.org/contentpage.asp?Pageid=4.3.16 for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-615-7100 ext.2815 ----------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a service by IPC using LISTSERV 15.0 To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt or (re-start) delivery of Technet send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet NOMAIL or (MAIL) To receive ONE mailing per day of all the posts: send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet Digest Search the archives of previous posts at: http://listserv.ipc.org/archives Please visit IPC web site http://www.ipc.org/contentpage.asp?Pageid=4.3.16 for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-615-7100 ext.2815 ----------------------------------------------------- ______________________________________________________________________ This email has been scanned by the MessageLabs Email Security System.
