Eric, Talk about a fertile field of fodder! I'll try to resist, but taking a flash drive with a Sandisk cruiser, instead of a puddle jumper. Dewey -----Original Message----- From: TechNet [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Eric Kalgren Sent: Wednesday, August 12, 2009 9:10 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [TN] Component bake out I dropped my flash drive in a puddle yesterday, it was completely submerged for about 5 minutes. I haven't applied any power to it yet, so I'm pretty sure that it is not completely dead. It is a Sandisk Cruzer - I mention the brand and type because it is probably easier to look it up and get an idea of what it looks like than for me to attempt an adequate description. My question: How long and at what temperature should I bake this guy to ensure that when I do plug it in, I don't let the magic smoke out of the components inside the drive? Next time it goes in my pants pocket, not my shirt pocket! Thanks, Eric Kalgren Electrical Engineer The Ferrite Co.
