Except for a couple of Chinese and one Japanese company I don't believe I've
gotten any other spam. My delete finger is always at the ready.

If you went the Groupsites way that would work for me too.

Best regards,

KennyB

Subject: [TN] FW: New interface for Technet - "last chance" to comment

I previously sent this to you on July 6 and not much response but from the
few that did, it sounds like you are happy with the current Technet
interface (although you would like e-mail addresses taken out of the FROM
line). Just wanted to give you one last chance to let me know your thoughts
before our internal team meets at the end of July.

Thank you!

Kim

Subject: New interface for Technet - your comments?

One of the comments I received asked if participants could post profiles and
pictures of themselves. Unfortunately, this is not feasible on the software
we are currently using. However, we have been experimenting with Groupsites
and would like to offer this functionality to our Technet participants. Of
course, the drawback would be that everyone would have to move to a new
platform. However, Groupsites offers personal profiles including biographies
and photos, easy searching, file posting and photograph posting, plus the
opportunity for better group communications. Consider it like a LinkedIn or
Facebook, specifically set up for you for free. Posts can be sent to you in
digest form or in real time.

Here are some example sites for you to look at (I've linked directly to the
discussion pages so it's not too overwhelming):

http://capitolgreenroofs.groupsite.com/discussion/forums
http://champions.groupsite.com/discussion/forums
http://usergroup.doubletake.com/discussion/forums

One of my concerns is whether companies are allowing access to sites like
this. I'd especially like any comments on people who can't click through
these links. The site would be set up by IPC and would be accessed through
our site, although you would have to create a free user account on
Groupsites to participate.

I know there was discussion about attracting people from other countries to
Technet. I don't know what this would do specifically but a more up-to-date
interface offering more functionality would certainly attract more
participants, especially among younger people entering the field.

Your comments on this idea are extremely welcome, either here on Technet, to
me personally or through a very tiny survey I set up at:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=x3PS7MISHrXKFlhQPczCJA_3d_3d.

If we do proceed, we would like to have some volunteers comment on the set
up of the new site and to test it out. You can volunteer through the survey
or to me directly.

Thanks so much for your feedback. And, please note - this is not a "done
deal" - if the group hates this idea, we won't do it without your approval.

Kim
