Dave, do you mean a 'stoat' hide? Not sure what a stoat is, but might be able to make a nice finger cot from the hide. I think a stoat is a stretched out version of a vole. Stort is a garbage dump. Doug gets his choice of one of the following: (a) a cold Diet Coke; (b) a cold Diet Mountain Dew which I'll have to steal from Doug; (c) a stort hide; (d) a nauga hide. Obtaining either (c) or (d) is going to be problematic as only Pb tipped tranquilizer darts are effective in their capture and the RoHS legislation has resulted in the darts elimination from production. At least the storts and naugas are happy about the release of RoHS. Was it to replace silk for stockings as has been indicated, or was it some other war time need that started the creation of nylon. My understanding is that fiberglass rope was to replace hemp rope because the hemp supply was cut off as the war progressed. They had farmers stateside growing hemp as one approach to the problem. Fiberglass turned out to be superior in some ways.
