(This will only be of interest to those involved in electronic documentation) The IPC is currently expanding the IPC-D-325 Documentation Requirements into the new IPC-2610 series, and four of these are now being reviewed: IPC-2611 Generic Requirements for Electronic Product Documentation IPC-2612 Sectional Requirements for Electronic Diagramming (Schematic) IPC-2612-1 Sectional Requirements for Electronic Diagramming (Symbols) IPC-2614 Sectional Requirements for Board Fabrication Documentation Since the prospect of wading through an entirely new set of publications is intimidating to most people, I thought it would be interesting to scan through two of them and excerpt the hard requirements into a simple list. (This was easy due to the IPC's specific use of the word "shall") Rather than incur the wrath of those who abhor long emails, I'll post it in a separate PDF for those who are interested. http://FrontDoor.biz/PCBportal/ThouShaltDocument.pdf<http://frontdoor.biz/PCBportal/ThouShaltDocument.pdf> If you design boards, generate data files or create documentation, you will be interested to see what IPC says you *shall* do. This is an easy way to get involved, and it's not too late to have some influence over your own future.
