Just to answer Ted's question from yesterday: If the local chapters are not active and the designer council is not actively working on keeping them alive, who is insuring that the standards are current? Have there been any active groups making or suggesting changes or amendments to the current standards? What ever happened to the advanced CID modules you would be able to take after the advanced certification course? Participation in IPC standards is open to all industry participants, regardless of membership in IPC or the Designers Council. A lot of the committee work is done by e-mail or teleconference. They try to make it easy to get involved. The committees do meet a few times a year but attendance is not mandatory. You can learn more on the committee home pages, where committee leaders, staff liaisons and drafts are posted: http://www.ipc.org/CommitteePage.aspx. In a shameless plug, the committees will meet at IPC APEX EXPO in Las Vegas. If you register in advance, there's no charge to go to the committee meetings and it's a great opportunity to see first-hand what takes place. I believe Anne Marie will respond regarding the advanced CID modules. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
