Hi Benjamin,
Thanks for your comments.
That mean’s the distortion could cause the test failure?
If yes, then we can try to control it because I don’t know the distortion
whether really could affect the test failure.
Thanks and best regards,

Subject: Re: [TGAsia] Hi-Pot Test
Failure (2250V/3S/3mA)
Hi,
Thanks for this picture, it can tell further
information. I would think it is a molding defect which usually tells us
that something goes wrong. The distortion is usually caused by injection
condition inappropriately set up. It could be due to excess stress
because the mfr wants to make product faster, or save money by diluting or cool
product prematurely, or even more, getting more regrind or recycle ratio. It
could be due to not enough of temperature or heating time for the mixing of
carbon black to cause anisotropic distribution resulting in a higher
conductivity path. Molding condition must be changed with ambient
condition as well. You can't expect the same condition can apply both in
winter and summer. Comparing the product at as received condition with
after annealing can tell whether molding was performed the same.
I would then recommend you to analyze whether the
failure relates to any of process parameter, especially with weather
(temp/humidity) since plastic flow/mixing heavily related to temp and humidity.
Hope it helps.

Hello Benjamin,
Thanks for your quick response on
this.
The molder did say the mold no any
dirty or inlet and the other passed samples is the same as test conditions.
Whether the housing exists distortion after molding could be caused by this
problem?

Hello,
Have you ever check with molder whether they have dirty mold or inlet? 0.6%
of failure may not be caused by design problem... or maybe you can check
whether other passed samples are similar in breakdown voltage?

Hi All,
Good afternoon!
I am currently having face the Hi-Pot test failure with 2250V/3mA/3S problem and
that the failure rate about 0.6%. The details see attached files shown. For
this problem, we have sought for a lot of solution, but still failed at final.
So which expert can share your experience to me on this? (Whether the test
condition too tight?)
Thanks in advance!
