Yeah, tons of our thin backplane are built with HASL. As you know, the
Lead Free HASL process has thermal shock on pcb board greater than HASL
process. We haven't built any backplanes with lead free HASL before, so we
want be sure of the reliability before making any decision. Delamination
concern? Thanks.

Hi Charming,
As long as the board thickness is below 5.0mm you should not have any
problem in running the boards through the HASL process. However the reason
we limit to 5.0mm is because the HASL process is a very harsh process
especially Lead Free HASL, this would degrade the board & also cause
fractures within the board which may not be visible to the naked eye. But
in your case the below mentioned board thicknesses should not be a concern
in running through the HASL process, we do a lot of boards upto 5.0mm……

1. 2.8mm board thickness, 685mm×275.5mm board size
2. 3.2mm board thickness, 710.5mm×435mm board size
