We are looking for a forming tool that isn't too expensive that will form a standoff bend in dipped capacitors without deforming the lead. Due to some height constraints we cannot use preformed parts from the capacitor manufacturer. We currently are using a hand tool but it deforms the lead diameter in the lead bend by more than the 10% allowed in IPC-610. These are small caps with a lead spacing of .40". The lead diameter is .023 and we need a small bend near the body of the part. We've considered Diso Pads but due to the tight location of the parts they would be very difficult to stuff. If any of you know of an easier way to keep the meniscus out of the holes I'd love to hear about it.
