My initial question was related to functional damage to components due to the exposure to the washing processes. Not any types of mechanical damage. Example - BIT Switches have tape to protect the component from the wash process. If the tape was removed or if a part was not designed to withstand a washing process what types of related defect could be expected, short and long term? -----Original Message----- From: TechNet [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Charlie Pitarys Sent: Friday, April 18, 2008 9:49 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [TN] Defects related to water wash Kenny, (assuming you have an in-line washer) it is important to set the spray manifold pressure with at least 10psi higher on the top even when washing in a basket. You want the pressure to pin it to the belt. If you have long edge connectors on the board run them with the connector parallel to the conveyor. This will eleiminate flipping and will help dry them better. Also many times the damage will happen only in the dryer section. Insure the first air knife pins the board down. I have always had best results when the top dryer manifolds impinge directly vertical. If all else fails, simple office binder clips work well too! Just to stretch the band, put the board under it and let the band go back, pressing the board against basket. You have to replace the rubber band frequently, depending on what cleaning agent you use. We also have baskets with a simple cover, that locks the board.
