Hi Eric! I think you can probably guess the problems that you will see. The solderpaste will be smeared off the pads that may result in insufficient solder defects and/or bridges. It is a very operator dependant process that is inconsistent. But there is another way... Have you ever looked into the straddle mount connectors from TEKA? They have connectors that have what they call; "Solder Flux Bearing Technology", which is a solid solder deposit fixed to each lead. The connector slides on the board without worrying about smearing solder paste...makes things much, much easier.
