Hi Kevin, Looks like an innerlayer is not fully etched.. In any event, it does not look good and I would not use the PCBs Meilleures Salutations Very Best Regards Roland www.PCBspecialist.com Roland Jaquet 14 Champ Budin 1258 Perly, GENEVA SWTZERLAND TEL+41-22-880-0405 GSM+41-79-203-3723 FAX +41-22-880-0409 "Quality is best measured not by the return of the products but by the return of the customers" -----Message d'origine----- De : TechNet [mailto:[log in to unmask]] De la part de Kevin Glidden Envoyé : vendredi, 28. septembre 2007 15:06 À : [log in to unmask] Objet : [TN] Copper Staining in PCB laminate We recently received a shipment of PCBs where the exposed outer layer laminate has staining that looks like copper. I have a photo - <http://tinyurl.com/yp9za2> http://tinyurl.com/yp9za2 My question is what would cause this? I've never seen it before, but I am thinking something in the Copper plating process. The vendor is telling us it is staining but it is an asthetic issue only. What would cause it? Is it an asthetic issue only? It seems to me if the staining was caused by some plating chemistry, then it would effect the laminate properties, particularly the insulation resistance. Thanks!
