Dang, I was going to suggest that. I'll save my thunder for something else. ;-) Phil -----Original Message----- From: TechNet [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Whittaker, Dewey (EHCOE) Sent: Wednesday, September 19, 2007 12:31 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [TN] Autofeed Soldering Irons Why not use selective soldering? Dewey -----Original Message----- From: TechNet [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Hogg, Blair K. Sent: Wednesday, September 19, 2007 9:19 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [TN] Autofeed Soldering Irons We have a new product in development that will have a rotary switch mounted on the solder side of the PCBA, thus having to be soldered from the component side, necessitating hand soldering. The switch has two row of 6 through hole contacts at standard .100 spacing. In the past we looked into using soldering irons with auto-feed solder, but didn't get very far as they would get gummed up with flux and would have feed problems, but are now thinking of trying these again. Has anybody out in TechNet land used autofeed soldering irons? What one work well, or should be avoided? How about low cost soldering robots? Anything reasonably priced? If you would prefer to reply off the list, please feel free to do so.
