I once dropped a palm OS type device into the toilet (hey, minehunt is a great way to pass the time while taking care of business) - fortunately it was after the flush! Batteries out, rinsed with tap water! (what was I thinking?!?), then 90% IPA (drugstore variety), room temp air dry, and reinstalled batteries, unit still worked! It's still working today, but it may not be the same unit - it was sent back for repair as the touch sensitive film covering the LCD display cracked and thus stopped recognizing the stylus, and I'm not sure that I got the same unit back. If I had the box I could check the serial number, I suppose. Bake at 75 degC for 1 hour and its OK. Strongly suspect that Bev Christian (RIM- Blackberry) and others in telecom may have strong comments on self repair procedures. Bev will have an interesting paper at next IPC Expo on reverse analysis of returned Blackberries, and "CSI - Miami" type analysis of what these little electronic marvels get dropped into. Stay tuned. ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour --------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a service by IPC using LISTSERV 15.0 To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt or (re-start) delivery of Technet send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet NOMAIL or (MAIL) To receive ONE mailing per day of all the posts: send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet Digest Search the archives of previous posts at: http://listserv.ipc.org/archives Please visit IPC web site http://www.ipc.org/contentpage.asp?Pageid=4.3.16 for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-615-7100 ext.2815 ----------------------------------------------------- ******************************************************************* This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
