If your wires are meant to run perpendicular to the surface (vs in the the same plane as the PCB surface) then one thing you might consider is soldering the wires to pads on the opposite side of the PCB you need the wire on. Then you can feed the wires through a hole in the PCB to the opposite side. There are a multitude of plastic grommets available that you can place in the hole to aid in strain relief and also prevent chafing of the wires. The pass through allows you to leave a little service loop on the opposite side, and you can further strain relief by covering the hole and service loop with adhesive. The 3145 is a good choice, but if you cannot use silicon (a lot of applications cannot), then also consider Loctite E-20. If the wires are in the same plane as the PCB surface, simply place the terminations in far enough to put a few wire tacks along the length of the wire before the PCB edge. Loctite Tak-Pak products work great for this (instant hardening). What pad designs? and a big concern over strain relieving the harness by attaching it to the pcb, but have really no room on the end of the pcb for other than dots of adhesive, etc... Can anyone point me in the right direction for information?
