Laird Technologies has designed a custom shield for us that looks like it will work well. We are still in prototype stage and time will tell. We will be in assembly by the end of May. It is a 2 part shield: a fence that will solder to the board in reflow (broken lengths of solder paste set in continuous band under shield). After final test, the lid will be added to close the shield. Laird has an engineer named Shelby Ball who designed this to our spec. Our shield is 1'' x 2.05". He was easy to work with and very responsive to our needs. Our last shield effort failed because the co planarity was bad. Laird guarantees +/-0.004 on co planarity tolerance. Barbara Burcham, C.I.D. They are pretty tricky, as they tend to lift corners and require a lot of rework. The question is: is it possible not to solder the fences to the PCB, but only clip them on the opposite side? Is soldering a must for the RF performance? Thanks, Ioan --------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a service by IPC using LISTSERV 15.0 To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt or (re-start) delivery of Technet send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet NOMAIL or (MAIL) To receive ONE mailing per day of all the posts: send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet Digest Search the archives of previous posts at: http://listserv.ipc.org/archives Please visit IPC web site http://www.ipc.org/contentpage.asp?Pageid=4.3.16 for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-615-7100 ext.2815 ----------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a service by IPC using LISTSERV 15.0 To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt or (re-start) delivery of Technet send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet NOMAIL or (MAIL) To receive ONE mailing per day of all the posts: send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet Digest Search the archives of previous posts at: http://listserv.ipc.org/archives Please visit IPC web site http://www.ipc.org/contentpage.asp?Pageid=4.3.16 for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-615-7100 ext.2815 -----------------------------------------------------
