I agree with Steve. We use Kyzen A4520 @ 13% (125F) on boards processed with no-clean paste and 2% liquid flux. The results are great and since the change of chemistry and a new machine that has a level 4 chem. iso, I never here from the floor concerning white residues. Great huh? Now I can do more productive Engineering projects - one at a time. I have evaluated the A4630 and it works even better at lower temps., but I don't have the time to implement at this point. Kyzen is also working on a soap that would be used to remove water soluble fluxes at very low concentration, but I'm not sure if it is out yet. Note: this is not a sales generation of any sort - we just use their product. Hope this helps. CAS Chris Schaefer Suntron Corporation Process Engineer 540 N. From experience, Kyzen Aquanox XJN works very well on no-clean residues. Kyzen also has newer formulas such as 4512P and 4520 that works even better at lower concentrations. Any of the Aquanox family cleans no-clean residues very well... -Steve Gregory- -----Original Message----- From: TechNet [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Michael Forrester Sent: Wednesday, July 26, 2006 3:15 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [TN] Water Cleaning No Clean FLux from a PCBA We have a PCBA assembly that requires very low/none ionic contamination due to high impedance circuitry. Normally we use a water soluble flux solder paste and wash the PCBAs. Our current vendor only uses Indium NC-SMQ92 no-clean solder paste. To met the following spec: Printed Circuit Assemblies shall meet cleanliness standards as per IPC-A-610 and IPC/EIA J-STD-001. Testing shall be in accordance with and meet the requirements of IPC/EIA J-STD-001 Paragraph 8.3.6 or 8.3.7. they want to use water and Kyzen XJN+ as a saponifier. Has anyone used this method of cleaning a no clean assembly? If so what was the result? Any other suggestions? Thank you.
