Interesting question, Brian. The answer is probably "Yes, we  exaggerate"
most of the time but could also be "It depends" on  occasion. As you know,
military applications have driven much of  standardization based on their wide
ranging needs which stretch to the extremes.  Deep sea probes, diving equipment,
submarines and the like are  few candidates that come to mind that might have
pressure-temperature-moisture issues.
