Hello everyone,

I've been ask by a client to explain why someone would use black material for the PCB's instead of standard clear color.

They're main application are for aircraft either military or civilian.

I thought that in some application, historically, black material was used in military or aerospace.

Apart black solder mask that, I've been told, could help heat dissipation, does the black color for the PCB's material have the same impact or is it for other reason?

What advantage do I have to use a black base material for PCB instead of clear ones?

Thanks,

Louis Guérin, C.I.D.+
