Hi Phil, All, IPC LF Listservers, <Gee, my understanding was the RoHS exemption for medical was only for implantable devices like pace makers. At least that is what the "experts" were saying over a year ago. < <Phil > Yes we have discussed this, yet only a little. Category 8 and 9 (Medical and Monitoring) to the best of my knowledge are still being worked in committee and by TAC. They are difficult categories which is why I believe they were excluded in RoHS yet like ALL things are up for review periodically. Category 8 strives to separate implantable and infected devices from other devices. My guess, without proof years ago, was that another directive covered technology that could be contaminated by the human or even animal bodies.
